A new image from the Monster Hunter film has surfaced, featuring a pair of iconic weapons.

The image showcases Milla Jojovich's character wielding the Dual Blades, which crackle with energy. In the video game canon, the Blades allow their user to attack with high speed and deal high damage to an opponent. “I experimented with different weapons during the game and was able to kill more monsters with those blades,” Jovovich told Empire in an exclusive interview. “I thought they’d look really beautiful in an action sequence.”

Jovovich and her husband, writer/director Paul W.S. Anderson, also discussed her character Artemis. The leader of a team of Army Rangers, Artemis goes to rescue some of her fellow colleagues and in the process encounters several monsters. “I wrote the role of Artemis for Milla as the avatar for the player, so she could be a grounded, relatable real-world character who is fresh to the world of Monster Hunter,” Anderson explained.

The Monster Hunter film is loosely based on the Capcom video game series of the same name. It also features Tony Jaa as a hunter who has braved the monster-infested world Artemis and her colleagues find themselves in. The two must unite to find Artemis' colleagues and get back home.

Directed by Paul W.S. Anderson, Monster Hunter stars Milla Jovovich, Ron Perlman, TI, Tony Jaa and Diego Boneta. The movie arrives in theaters on September 4, 2020.
