Magnetic Press will launch a Kickstarter for its psychological thriller graphic novel, Monolith on Feb. 9, illustrated by LRNZ (Golem, Viewpoint, Astrogramma) and written by Roberto Recchioni (Orphans, Dylan Dog).

This Kickstarter launches at 10 AM CST on Feb. 9, and readers will have a chance to pre-register before the launch date to obtain a bonus limited edition print by LRNZ and other rewards. "…Monolith is another mindblowing, cinematic work that we've been itching to release for quite some time. It is an intense psychological thriller set in an easily-foreseeable future presented like digitally painted storyboards for a feature film," said publisher Mike Kennedy. "Fans of LRNZ's work will love Monolith, and anyone not yet familiar with his work will be instantly converted to fans. It is, quite simply, jaw-dropping stuff."

What first began as a graphic novel before it was transformed into a feature film of the same name in 2016, Monolith tells the original story by Recchioni as it was first imagined. Featuring LRNZ's unique paintings, Monolith changes its art style throughout to convey the vast "range of moods, dreams and psychological trials Sandra experiences during this frightening 48-hour period," according to Magnetic.

Per the official synopsis for Monolith, "Sandra is a young mother still adjusting to the responsibilities of parenthood after a life filled with bad decisions. The most responsible decision she has made is to drive the safest car ever built, the Monolith, to protect her infant son, David, from her own accident-prone nature. During a trek across the desert to visit her husband in LA, they are stopped in the middle of the night by a collision with a deer. Checking on the damage, she accidentally locks herself out of the car, with David trapped inside. Now, isolated from civilization, she must save her son from a car designed to be an indestructible vault on wheels. The sun is rising, heating the car’s interior, and time is running out!"

Along with the exclusive LRNZ print, those who pledge early could receive a host of other rewards, along with a 180-page gallery-sized hardcover edition of Monolith, digital and physical copies of Golem and Viewpoint, a limited 6-print LRNZ portfolio, as well as an Orphans series box set.
