The following contains spoilers for Thunderbolts #3, on sale Oct. 26 from Marvel Comics.

While she acknowledges it may be a little "on the nose," a preview for Thunderbolts #3 reveals Monica Rambeau/Spectrum couldn't care less what other people think about her wearing Blue Marvel's vest throughout the Marvel series.

Thunderbolts #3 comes from writer Jim Zub, penciler Netho Diaz, inker Victor Olazaba, colorist Java Tartaglia and letterers VC's Ariana Maher and Cory Petit. In a preview for the issue provided by Marvel, Monica wakes up at the bottom of the Pacific Ocean next to Blue Marvel. Late for a meeting with the newly assembled Thunderbolts team led by Hawkeye, Monica only has a moment with her boyfriend before she has to leave. The two briefly talk Monica's presence on the Thunderbolts, with Blue Marvel telling her to greet America Chavez for him after the two recently became teammates during the Defenders: Beyond miniseries.

Before leaving, Monica grabs Blue Marvel's vest and informs him she'll once again be taking it with her. While she's appeared in her normal costume throughout the series so far, Monica has also sported Blue Marvel's vest throughout the first two issues of Thunderbolts and Devil's Reign: Omega #1. "Isn't wearing your boyfriend's clothes a bit on the nose?" Blue Marvel asks. Monica responds, "What I think is...I don't care what anyone else thinks."

Monica's Presence on Luke Cage's New Thunderbolts Team

Monica turned down New York City Mayor Luke Cage's offer to lead the Thunderbolts at the end of Devil's Reign: Omega #1. "I can't do that 'smile and wave' %$@#," she said at the time. "I don't have it in me anymore. you know the media is relentless nowadays. I already see how this all goes down. They'll poke and jab, and when I don't play nice, they'll fall back on tired' angry Black lady' rhetoric." While Luke went with Clint Barton/Hawkeye as his second pick to lead, Monica has still found herself working with the Thunderbolts on multiple occasions. At the end of Thunderbolts #2, she told Hawkeye she's primarily working with the team so she can "fix things when you #@$% up."
