WARNING: The following contains spoilers for M.O.D.O.K.: Head Games #3 by Jordan Blum, Patton Oswalt, Scott Hepburn, Carlos Lopez and VC's Travis Lanham, on sale now.

M.O.D.O.K. has been one of the strangest villains in the Marvel Universe since he was created by Jack Kirby and Stan Lee in 1967's Tales of Suspense #93. Apart from his unmistakable shape and seemingly undying nature, M.O.D.O.K.'s origin is just as odd as the rest of him.

Lately, that particular aspect of his life has become even more complicated, sending M.O.D.O.K. on the hunt for answers. It's rare that M.O.D.O.K. doesn't get what he wants, so of course, he just discovered the source of his problems in M.O.D.O.K.: Head Games #3, and it just so happens to be his very own father.

M.O.D.O.K.'s bleeding memories have caused him to be ousted from his seat at the highest table in A.I.M., team up with Tony Stark to steal from a supervillain auction house, and now return to where everything started. Boca Caliente has become overgrown throughout the years, the former hub of dubious research and development now a mass of vines curling their way up desolate buildings. After cutting his way through the brush and making it into the facility, M.O.D.O.K. is confronted with some of its former experiments. A bunch of animals stuffed into M.O.D.O.K. shells are easy enough for the real deal to handle on his own, but the arrival of Gwenpool makes things a bit more difficult.

Though Gwenpool was sent to kill M.O.D.O.K., she has a change of heart when she realizes he's risking everything to find his family -- or at least a family he thinks is his. With some button mashing and a little help from Forge on the other end of a video call, Gwenpool is able to extract from M.O.D.O.K.'s programming a name and an address. The Founder is the one who this all seems to originate from, and even with their enigmatic nature, knowing where they are is enough for M.O.D.O.K. to once again hit the road. After arriving in the small suburban town of Butterville, Ohio, M.O.D.O.K. is unnerved by the friendly waves and smiles that the locals all give him when passing by. The town's friendly disposition isn't the only surprise waiting for M.O.D.O.K., as he discovers when he makes it to the home from his memories, one with a lone beekeeper working the hives out back. M.O.D.O.K. has finally found the Founder, and they're closer than almost any two people could be.

The Founder reveals themselves to be none other than Alvin Tarleton, M.O.D.O.K.'s never-before-seen father. Alvin already knew that M.O.D.O.K. was on his way, and was more than aware that he had come in search of a much different family than he has found. Unfortunately, just what Alvin's plans are for M.O.D.O.K. are yet to be seen. Though they're more likely to be sinister than benevolent, there's no telling at the moment.

Apart from the menacing swarm of bees that Alvin appears to control -- fitting for the number one agent in an organization long mocked for its beekeeper style uniforms -- not much about Alvin is known. A.I.M. isn't exactly the most secretive organization, much like M.O.D.O.K. is not a particularly stealthy character, but both of their origins are shrouded in an almost unnecessary amount of mystery when it comes to the finer details of how each came to be exactly what they are now. Hopefully, Alvin will be able to shed some light on everything that M.O.D.O.K. has been plagued with as of late without their family reunion becoming yet another bloodbath.
