Bandai Visual has debuted a new teaser trailer announcing the second season of “Mobile Suit Gundam Thunderbolt,” the anime adaptation of Yasuo Ohtagaki’s manga. The promo’s tagline claims “the war is not over yet.”
The short video features two mobile suits locked in combat as their advanced weaponry tear into each other.
Produced by Sunrise Inc., the studio behind “Gundam” and “Cowboy Bebop,” the series takes place during the One Year War, the same time period as the original “Gundam” anime series. It follows the story of two pilots locked in battle at the “Thunderbolt Sector.” Earth Federation soldier Io Flemming takes on Daryl Lorenz of the Principality of Zeon as the forces fight among destroyed space colonies.
The manga was launched in March 2012 in Shogakukan’s “Big Comic Superior” magazine, and Shogakukan recently published the the eighth volume in June.
The first season of the anime premiered in December 2015, with the latest episode airing in April of this year. The anime was directed and written by Kō Matsuo and featured character designs from Hirotoshi Takaya.
The second season of “Mobile Suit Gundam Thunderbolt” will premiere in spring 2017.
