'Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans' Trailer Announces New Anime

The first trailer and poster for a new Gundam series, "Iron-Blooded Orphans" has arrived, and they're pretty darn cool.

First teased on July 4, the Sunrise-produced anime and full Gundam Barbatos were officially unveiled earlier today via a livestream event. According to Anime News Network, the story is is described as follows:

The show ("Mobile Suit Gundam: Tekketsu no Orphans") is set 300 years after a great conflict between Earth and Mars known as the "Calamity War." A woman named Cordelia sets out on a journey to Earth to speak for the independence of the Martian city of Chryse, which is under the control of the Earth government. Escorting her is the private security company CGS, which protagonists Mikazuki Augus and Orga Itsuka are members of. When a group named Gjallarhorn attacks CGS and Cordelia, Orga sees this as a chance to rebel against CGS and launch a coup. Mikazuki and Orga are thrust into a new conflict. To fend off Gjallarhorn, Mikazuki rides an old mobile suit from the Calamity War, powered by a nuclear reactor, the Gundam Barbatos.

The Barbatos is described as a mobile suit that steals weapons, armor, and parts from enemies to become stronger.

"Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans," directed by Tatsuyuki Nagai with character designs by Michinori Chiba and mechanical design by Naohiro Washio, is scheduled to debut in Japan on October 15, 2015, and will be streamed online.
