Despite the fact that Dimple is technically a villain on Mob Psycho 100, the spirit proves himself pretty valuable to the anime's main character, Mob, especially following their initial battle. Dimple continues to follow Mob around after the boy defeats him, and while he insists that he's simply interested in stealing the young esper's body, it becomes clear that Dimple is attached to Mob and even his master, Reigen.

And even if Dimple's motivations are primarily self-interested, he's come in clutch for the show's main characters on more than one occasion. Not only has he offered them advice and provided some much needed comic relief to sometimes dark storylines, but he's also helped them save the day a few times.

These are 10 moments that Dimple proved himself the real MVP of the series.

10 10. When He Becomes Mob's Companion

mob steps on dimple

When Dimple decides to become Mob's companion, it seems like a suspicious move, especially given that it's right after the spirit is defeated. And no, Dimple doesn't have the best intentions in mind when he befriends the young esper, but it's probably a good thing he does. After all, throughout the anime's first season, Mob seems like a pretty lonely kid.

And Mob comes out of his shell as the story continues, but much of that has to do with the fact that he has companions like Dimple and Reigen around to support him. The two might not get emotional about it, but Dimple's presence has clearly had a positive impact on Mob. And we appreciate that.

9 9. When He Teams Up With Ritsu

There's no denying that Dimple had selfish and not-so-great intentions in teaming up with Mob's brother Ritsu during the anime's first season, but watching him guide the other boy was satisfying nonetheless — especially since Ritsu had barely begun to glimpse his own psychic powers at that point.

And in some ways, Dimple following and possessing Ritsu helped Mob's brother realize his own abilities and protected him from Claw. Sure, Dimple could have went about it better, but we can't say his short-term alliance with Ritsu was all bad.

8 8. When He Tries To Convince Teru Not To Fight Mob

When Teruki and Mob first meet, the former is threatened by the latter — resulting in Teru challenging Mob to a battle of psychic powers that he's sure to lose. But Mob is insistent about not using his abilities against other people, even after Teru approaches him, so Dimple steps in to help.

And while Dimple’s motivations at this point are mostly self-interested (he wants to possess Mob’s body and therefore doesn’t want to see it harmed), it’s still a pretty epic moment, especially when he calls upon his full strength. Unfortunately, Teru is much stronger than Dimple and eliminates him with ease — but we do love seeing Dimple step in to defend Mob, even if their relationship hasn’t progressed into full-on friendship at this point.

7 7. When He Joins Mob And Teru Against The 7th Division

Claw's 7th Division plays the role of the big bad during Mob Psycho 100's first season, and they attract the attention of Mob and Teru when they kidnap Ritsu. The two boys venture to Claw’s headquarters to rescue Mob’s brother, and Dimple accompanies them.

And Dimple’s presence turns out to be pretty useful when it comes to infiltrating the 7th division, as he can possess security guards and sneak around the building more easily than the two boys can. Even if the true victory against the 7th division belongs to Mob and Reigen, Dimple is undeniably helpful when it comes to locating Mob's brother.

6 6. Every Time He Interacts With Reigen

Dimple's relationship with Reigen is one of the highlights of the series, particularly because of how full of sass and reluctant acceptance it is. Although the two are willing to work together, especially when it comes to helping and protecting Mob, it's clear that they get on each other's nerves more often than not.

And Dimple never has any problem criticizing Reigen, something that Mob would never actually do. It’s good that there’s someone around to keep the fraudulent psychic in his place, and the fact that it’s usually done through sarcasm only makes it that much more enjoyable for the audience.

5 5. Every Time He Gives Mob Romantic Advice

With most of his life advice coming from either Reigen or Dimple, it's a wonder that Mob manages to do anything properly. But watching Dimple attempt to give Mob advice about relationships is the most comically awkward thing in the world — and that’s what makes it so great.

And Mob’s indifference to Dimple’s suggestive comments and ridiculous reactions to the girls in his life makes the dynamic between the two of them even better. And as mentioned earlier, Dimple's presence in Mob's life does help him come out of his shell a tad. Indirecty, that has to help Mob when it comes to talking to girls, right?

4 4. When He Defends Mob's Right To Not Exorcise Innocent Spirits

During the second season of Mob Psycho 100, Reigen and Mob take a job to exorcise a family of spirits, but it soon becomes clear that the group doesn't actually pose a threat to anyone. Reigen's clients want them gone for their own piece of mind, but Mob is so reluctant to exorcise the innocent that he begins shaking from the stress of the situation.

Reigen and Dimple immediately defend his right to choose what he's going to do, even if it's not what the clients want. And Dimple proves that the spirits are innocent by attempting to convince them to attack their assailants. It's an iffy plan that could have had negative consequences, but it also helped confirm that Mob was making the right call. Without Dimple's interference, Mob could have gone through with it or continued to have second thoughts.

3 3. When He Attempts To Take On Shibata

In his regular form, Dimple doesn't stand much of a chance against Claw's Shibata, a huge esper who is part of the Ultimate 5. But with Mob unconscious and Shibata determined to get to the boy, Dimple possesses Mob and helps him escape Shibata's clutches. And the fact that he doesn't permanently steal Mob's body shows that he's doing it for other reasons — and maybe that he even cares for the boy?

When Shibata finds Mob unconscious among members of the Body Improvement Club, Dimple also takes over Musashi's body, allowing him to use the club leader's strength to hold Shibata off. Not only is it interesting to see Dimple take over such a strong body, but it also buys time for Mob to wake up and defeat Shibata once and for all. And that makes this one of those instances where Dimple actually helps save the day.

2 2. When He Lies To Mob About His Parents

Look, normally lying wouldn't make someone the MVP of anything, but Dimple's deceptive attempts to calm Mob down after Sho burns his house down are well intended. When Mob discovers the remains of his home — along with what appears to be his parents bodies — he's understandably distraught. His psychic power meter climbs well beyond 100 percent, making him a danger to himself and everyone around him.

In the hopes of alleviating some of the boy's distress, Dimple tries to get Mob to look away from the destruction and focus on something else. He also seeks out Reigen, and the two convince Mob that his parents might not be gone after all, something that, thankfully, turns out to be true. But in finding a way to calm Mob down after the traumatic series of events, Dimple and Reigen save a decent amount of people from his ???-percent powers. And they prevent him from doing something he might regret.

1 1. When He Shakes Mob Out Of Mogami's Illusion

When Keiji Mogami traps Mob in an illusion, throwing the boy into a world where he never had psychic powers, things seem pretty bleak for the show's protagonist. Completely fooled my Mogami's spell, Mob quickly falls into a state of melancholy, believing that he has no worth and no meaningful relationships to fall back on.

In fact, if Dimple hadn't stepped in to save him, it's possible that Mob would have remained in Mogami's false world forever. Thankfully, Dimple finds a way into the illusion and snaps Mob out of his trance — allowing Mob to temporarily get rid of Mogami and to return to his own world.
