"The X-Files" veteran Mitch Pileggi has confirmed he'll return as Walter Skinner for the Fox revival.

"Very happy to announce that Walter Skinner will once again be getting all grumpy and bitchy with his two wayward kids," he wrote today on Twitter. "Very happy."

Star David Duchovny earlier this month let Pileggi's return slip before backpedaling to say he wasn't sure if it was official.

Pileggi played FBI Assistant Director Walter Skinner -- initially a foil for Duchovny's Fox Mulder and Gillian Anderson's Dana Scully and later their staunch supporter -- for all nine seasons of the sci-fi drama, and appeared in both features.

"The X-Files" aired from 1993 to 2002, becoming a full-fledged pop culture phenomenon. The revival is planned as a six-episode event, but Duchovny hasn't ruled out the possibility of it running longer.
