SPOILER WARNING: The following article contains major spoilers for Mister Miracle #7, by Tom King, Mitch Gerads and Clayton Cowles, on sale now.

It was two months ago, in Tom King and Mitch Gerads’ Mister Miracle #6, that we learned Scott Free and Big Barda were expecting a precious little bundle of Genesisian and Apokoliptian joy. Now, in Issue #7, King and Gerads have dropped yet another major bombshell – well, major if you consider yourself a connoisseur of Jack Kirby’s “Fourth World” stories: Big Barda’s legal name.

The issue begins with Scott and Barda making their way to the hospital for the latter’s delivery, which is an ordeal in and of itself. Upon their arrival at the Emergency Room, Scott prepares to check his wife in.

“Yeah, we pre-registered,” Scott tells the intake attendant. “First name, Big. Last name, Barda, B-A-R-D-A.”

So there you have it. She isn’t Barda Free, nor is Big Barda simply an alias derived from her larger-than-average physical stature -- it’s her actual first and last name! However, this revelation begs the question: Is ‘Big’ her family name, or is her mother’s full name Big Breeda Barda?
