Following the announcement of the title of the sixth film in the franchise, along with the release of the first image, star Tom Cruise has debuted a new photo of himself in action in Mission: Impossible -- Fallout.
Posted of the actor's social media accounts, the image depicts Cruise leaping through the air from a scaffolding to what we presume is the safety of another building. This appears to be the same stunt the 55-year-old Cruise was performing in mid-August when he was injured on the film's London set. He broke his ankle, and required seven weeks to recuperate.
Cruise reprises his role as Ethan Hunt in Fallout, joined by returning co-stars Rebecca Ferguson as Ilsa Faust, Ving Rhames as Luther Stickell, and Simon Pegg as Benji Dunn, along with franchise newcomers Henry Cavill, Angela Bassett and Vanessa Kirby. Christopher McQuarrie, who wrote and directed 2015’s Mission: Impossible — Rogue Nation, is also back for its sequel.
The best intentions often come back to haunt you. MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE – FALLOUT finds Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) and his IMF team (Alec Baldwin, Simon Pegg, Ving Rhames) along with some familiar allies (Rebecca Ferguson, Michelle Monaghan) in a race against time after a mission gone wrong. Henry Cavill, Angela Bassett, and Vanessa Kirby also join the dynamic cast with filmmaker Christopher McQuarrie returning to the helm.
Also starring Rebecca Ferguson, Michelle Monaghan, Alec Baldwin, Sean Harris, Sian Brooke and Frederick Schmidt, Mission: Impossible — Fallout arrives in theaters July 27.
