In a world populated by superheroes and villains, being fearless isn't exactly the same as being courageous. Fearlessness doesn't just mean overcoming fear, it means not experiencing it in the first place. Not every character, whether they're a hero or a villain, is completely fearless in Miraculous: The Tales Of Ladybug And Cat Noir. Some come pretty close though.

The most fearless of characters can actually be pretty impulsive, putting themselves in danger to keep others safe. Others have a very specific fear that might inform a lot of their actions while otherwise appearing fearless.

Warning: Spoilers ahead!

10 Lila Isn't Afraid Of Being The Villain

Lila as Volpina in Miraculous Ladybug

Lila has one real fear: being alone. Because of that, she appears fearless. She allows her loneliness and jealousy to drive her, sometimes making her a villain who opposes both Marinette and Ladybug.

Lila's fearlessness is best demonstrated when she allies with Hawkmoth. She doesn't just openly decide to be a villain. Lila willingly lets Hawkmoth Akumatize her, no matter what the consequences are, just so that she can get her revenge. Characters are generally Akumatized because they're upset - whether that's sad, hurt, or angry. Lila just wants the power it gives her, and she doesn't care what happens to her in the process.

9 Chloe Fearlessly Reveals Her Identity

Chloe, like Lila, has one specific fear: not being the most important person in the room. Chloe might not be the best role model since she's used to getting what she wants, and that can cloud her judgment. Despite that, she's shown a few moments of fearlessness in the series.

After she's no longer allowed to hold the bee Miraculous, Chloe still fights for her friends. She steps in to make sure Sabrina can't be Akumatized. Later, Chloe actually reveals her identity as Queen Bee to the world. On the one hand, that's born from her desire for attention. On the other, it shows that Chloe isn't afraid of the consequences of a villain coming after her, despite knowing that none of the heroes are supposed to reveal their identities.

8 Rose Faces Life With Optimism

Rose holds her phone in her hands in Miraculous Ladybug

Rose might not seem fearless at first glance since the audience doesn't see her as a superhero often, but a character doesn't have to don a mask and have super powers to be fearless. She is an eternal optimist, always looking on the bright side of situations.

Rose is always willing to help someone, even if it means putting herself in danger. Season Four also revealed she suffered from a near-fatal illness as a child. After recovering, she's determined to always live her life to the fullest. Rose lets nothing get in her way, and her optimism rubs off on her friends, saving them from being Hawkmoth's targets more than once.

7 Zoe Resolves To Be Herself

Chloe's half-sister Zoe is introduced in the fourth season of Miraculous Ladybug, and she and Chloe are very different people. There is one thing they have in common though: Zoe is unapologetically herself. She tries to be like Chloe when first moving in with the family but decides it's not worth it and resolves to be herself whether people like her or not - including her own family.

Zoe's commitment to truth catches Ladybug's eye, and she ends up getting chosen as the new Bee Miraculous holder. Despite not knowing anything about being a superhero, Zoe agrees to help, like so many of the Miraculous holders before her.

6 Nino Is Always Willing To Protect His Friends

Alya and Nino stand together in Miraculous Ladybug

Despite being one of the earliest Miraculous holders chosen by Ladybug, Nino doesn't get to don his superhero costume all that often. That's okay though because he's more than willing to help his friends even when he's not in costume.

In the first season, Nino bravely faces Gabriel Agreste to tell the man that isolating his son from his friends, on his birthday, no less, isn't the way to go. He also willingly helps out other heroes even in his civilian form, helping get citizens to safety. Nino isn't afraid of people finding out who he is either, but he knows Ladybug wants his identity a secret, so he keeps it from everyone except Alya.

5 Nathalie Sacrifices Her Own Health For Gabriel

Nathalie stands in a courtyard in Miraculous Ladybug

Nathalie is one of those fearless characters who is definitely not a hero. Instead, she's Gabriel Agreste's personal assistant, and one of the only people who knows he's actually Hawkmoth. Nathalie is willing to do anything for the man she admires so much.

That includes using the damaged peacock Miraculous to help increase his power. It makes Nathalie incredibly weak and ill, but she isn't afraid of the consequences as long as Gabriel gets what he wants - one step closer to Ladybug and Cat Noir's Miraculouses.

4 Luka Believes Honesty Is The Best Policy

Luka is one of the most fearless characters in the series in or out of a superhero costume. When Ladybug approaches him with a Miraculous, he's ready to do anything she needs. In multiple timelines, he's also the only one to successfully keep secret the identities of Ladybug and Cat Noir, a secret that could put him in serious danger.

Not only that, but Luka isn't afraid of emotional situations. He freely admits his feelings about hurtful or awkward situations, like Marinette not returning his crush on her. Luka doesn't let any potential fear of rejection stop him from telling the truth.

3 Ladybug Will Face Any Villain

Miraculous Ladybug

There's a distinction when it comes to Ladybug and Marinette. Though it's Marinette who inhabits the costume, she is definitely not fearless. Interacting with her crush, disappointing her parents, and making mistakes in front of her classmates are all things that rattle her in everyday life. As Ladybug, however, Marinette feels empowered and fearless.

She's able to take on just about any villain, taking the lead in all of the heroic team-ups. Ladybug confidently banters with Cat Noir, saves her friends' lives on a regular basis, and does all kinds of things Marinette would never have the courage to do.

2 Alya Is A Hero In Or Out Of Costume

A split image depicts Rena Rouge, Alya in her civilian form, and Scarabella in Miraculous Ladybug

Luka, Nino, and Rose might be willing to lend a helping hand to the heroes even when they don't have any powers of their own, but Alya is one of the few characters to actually take on villains before she's ever given access to a Miraculous. In the first season, Alya almost becomes a sacrifice for a mummy because she willingly distracts the villain while Ladybug and Cat Noir come up with a plan.

Not only that, but Alya is one of the only masked heroes to have to stand up to multiple villains on her own when Marinette is unable to transform into Ladybug. She even becomes Ladybug at one point, or more accurately, Sacarabella since she doesn't want to use the same name. Alya really is outright fearless.

1 Cat Noir Never Backs Down From A Fight

If Ladybug and Alya are fearless, it might seem like no one can outrank them. Cat Noir, however, has them beat. Just as there is a distinction between Marinette and Ladybug, so too is there one between Adrien and Cat Noir. Cat Noir is brasher than Adrien, saying whatever pops into his head, making his feelings for his heroic partner well-known to the entire world.

Cat Noir always puts himself in harm's way so Ladybug and the other heroes can save the day. He willingly sacrifices himself on a regular basis, completely unafraid of the consequences. He's also willing to let his identity be revealed to Ladybug, though she always cautions him against it. Cat Noir doesn't worry about consequences nearly as much as anyone else in Miraculous Ladybug.
