Marvel is celebrating Disney's 100th anniversary with a series of variant covers showing Minnie Mouse as Wolverine, Pete as Thanos and more.

To celebrate the Walt Disney Company's 100th anniversary, Marvel Comics is putting out a Disney100 variant cover program throughout 2023. The series, which includes 12 covers in total, re-imagines iconic Disney characters such as Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, Goofy and more as Marvel superheroes or villains.

Marvel revealed three new variants within the Disney100 series. Homaging 1991's Infinity Gauntlet by Jim Starlin, George Pérez and Ron Lim, Lorenzo Pastrovicchio and Chiara Di Francia's Amazing Spider-Man #23 variant sees Pete as Thanos, Mickey as Doctor Strange, Goofy as Spider-Man, Pluto as the Silver Surfer, Minnie as Captain America and Donald as Firelord. Donald Soffritti and Chiara Di Francia's Amazing Spider-Man #25 variant references 2004's New Avengers #1 (by Brian Michael Bendis, David Finch, Danny Miki, Frank D'Armata, Richard Starkings and Albert Deschesne) and shows Mickey as Captain America, Goofy as Iron Man, Daisy Duck as Spider-Woman, Minnie as Wolverine and Donald as Spider-Man. Lastly, Claudio Sciarrone and Enrico Pennazza's Amazing Spider-Man #27 places Mickey inside of Tony Stark's Invincible Iron Man armor.

Marvel's New Variant Series Has Already Turned Mickey Mouse Into Captain America

When announcing the series in Oct. 2022, Marvel unveiled three other variants that will also be featured in upcoming issues of The Amazing Spider-Man. Pastrovicchio and Valeria De Sanctis' Amazing Spider-Man #17 variant sees Mickey as Captain America leading Earth's Mightiest Heroes in a nod to 1963's Avengers #4 by Stan Lee, Jack Kirby, Paul Reinman, George Roussos, Stan Goldberg and Artie Simek. Giada Perissinotto and Chiara Di Francia's Amazing Spider-Man #19 references 1961's Fantastic Four #1 (by Lee, Kirby, Dick Ayers, George Klein, Christopher Rule, Goldberg and Simek) and features Donald, Minnie, Goofy and Micky as members of Marvel's first family while Pete is Mole Man. Additionally, Vitale Mangiatordi and Valeria De Sanctis' Amazing Spider-Man #21 features both a normal-looking and gamma-irritated Goofy in a The Incredible Hulk #1 (by Lee, Kirby, Roussos, Reinman and Simek) reference. The additional six covers included in the Disney100 have not yet been revealed.

The series kicks off on Jan. 11, 2023, with the Amazing Spider-Man #17 cover. Following are Amazing Spider-Man #19 on Feb. 8, Amazing Spider-Man #21 on March 8, Amazing Spider-Man #23 on April 5, Amazing Spider-Man #25 on May 3 and Amazing Spider-Man #27 on June 7.
