Minecraft is one of gaming's biggest success stories, with the humble indie title becoming the best-selling video game in history. Since it first launched in 2011, the game has attracted millions of players to experience its iconic three-dimensional world, crafting, building, and fighting off Creepers along the way. There have been several spin-offs for Minecraft and the most recent is Minecraft Legends, released this month.

Unlike the Minecraft game that gamers everywhere know and love, Minecraft Legends offers quite a bit of variation in the form of an action strategy game played from a third-person perspective. It has a few similarities to Minecraft, such as its cooperative mode and a focus on resource gathering and building, but also offers a new experience, even featuring a competitive multiplayer mode. Minecraft fans are likely to be pretty excited to jump into this new game in a familiar world, so here is how long they can expect to spend doing just that.

How Long to Beat Minecraft Legends

While Minecraft typically offers endless engagement as a sandbox game, Minecraft Legends follows a storyline, and as such, players definitely shouldn't expect to spend hundreds of hours with this title. In terms of the campaign, it will take an average of 15 hours to beat Minecraft Legends' story mode in solo mode and on the basic difficulty settings.

This playtime can change significantly depending on how the player wishes to engage with the game, however. For example, players might spend 10 hours on the game while playing on easy mode, but the highest difficulty could stretch their playtime to around 20 hours. Playing through the story with friends via online co-op can also affect how long players will take to beat the game.

How Long to Complete Minecraft Legends

Minecraft Legends has several side-quests, so players looking to complete the game in this sense can look to spend around 18 to 25 hours on it without purchasing or downloading any additional content. However, if they would like to do so, the post-launch DLC, Lost Legends, would add another five hours or so to the game's playtime. Both of these times can also vary as the game's open-world mechanics ensure that there is plenty to explore along the way. As well, players can extend their gameplay by playing the game's online competitive mode, with Minecraft Legends' PvP mode allowing players to face off for around 10 to 20 minutes per match.

With that said, players should keep in mind that Minecraft Legends is still a Minecraft product. It's an open-world game full of sandbox elements, so players can spend as long as they'd like with it. The game offers endless engagement, highlighting the same exploration, building, resource collection and management, and interactions with the world's other inhabitants and other players as Minecraft. It's impossible to truly complete the game in an achievement hunter or completionist sense, so instead, players should focus on exploring the vast world that they have at their fingertips to their hearts' content.
