Mindy Kaling Lands Fox Pilot

Could Kelly Kapoor be joining Dwight Schrute and Michael Scott in the Office exodus? The signs are pointing toward "yes," according to TVLine, which broke the news that actress, writer and co-executive producer Mindy Kaling got an order from Fox for a sitcom pilot.

The show is described as "Kaling playing a Bridget-Jones type OB/GYN trying to navigate both her personal and professional lives." Between her new book Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? and co-starring roles in movies like last year's No Strings Attached and the upcoming Five-Year Engagement, Kaling is on a roll. She would also act as as executive producer for the potential series and write the pilot script.

All this raises several questions. If the series does get picked up by Fox, how will Kelly Kapoor leave The Office? More importantly, will there be an Office after next season? One of the benefits of a large ensemble cast is being able to soldier on even when actors leave. However, between Steve Carrell exiting last season and the potential for a spinoff starring Rainn Wilson, it looks like the actors are preparing to go their separate ways.
