"Lego Movie" writer/producer/directors Chris Miller and Phil Lord will work with Fox 21 Television Studios to adapt the popular "Serial" podcast as a cable series. According to Deadline, the television series will follow the making of the podcast as it pursues a new case unrelated to the Hae Min Lee murder.

"This American Life's" Sarah Koenig and Julie Snyder co-created and co-produced the podcast, which is also hosted by Koenig. After launching in October 2014, "Serial" became a pop culture phenomenon, topping the iTunes charts and earning a Peabody Award.

“Chris and Phil take an unexpected approach to telling stories and that is so appealing to us at 'Serial,'” explained Snyder. “Developing a show with them is exciting because we feel like we speak the same language, only they’re smarter than us.”

Snyder and Keonig are attached as executive producers alongside Lord, Miller, Alissa Shipp, Ira Glass and Seth Cohen. The adaptation is currently seeking a writer to pen the project.
