As Solo: A Star Wars Story will show us, Han's beloved Millennium Falcon got quite a bit of its swagger from Lando Calrissian, its previous owner. Donald Glover, who plays Calrissian in the upcoming film, gave viewers an insider look at a remarkably newer -- and cleaner -- Millennium Falcon in a new Solo featurette.
Ultimately, Lando Calrissian will lose the Millennium Falcon to Han Solo in a game of Corellian Spike, a dice game. Before Han's ownership, though, Lando had the chance to outfit the ship to his tastes. In the video, Glover gives us some insight into what modifications were most important to him: mainly, a decent and well-stocked bar and a huge, walk-in "cape closet" for his impressive wardrobe.
Later on, Han Solo would mostly appreciate the Falcon's undetectable smuggling compartments and well-equipped hyperdrive, but it's nice to see the ship wasn't always a "hunk of junk." Lando's Millennium Falcon features patent leather, a sound system and any space travelers' dream kitchen, including a "Wookiee cookie jar," a "space blender" and Lando's favorite drink: vintage Retsa reserve.
Directed by Ron Howard from a script by Lawrence and Jon Kasdan, Solo: A Star Wars Story stars Alden Ehrenreich as Han Solo, Donald Glover as Lando Calrissian, Emilia Clarke as Qi’ra and Joonas Suotamo as Chewbacca. They’re joined by Thandie Newton as Val, Phoebe Waller-Bridge as L3-37, Paul Bettany as Dryden Vos and Woody Harrelson as Tobias Beckett. The film opens May 25.
