The third Millarworld comic book series from Mark Millar in association with Netflix and Image Comics has been announced, and it teams the prolific writer with artist Simone Bianchi.

Coming this February, Sharkey the Bounty Hunter is a sci-fi action comedy in which its titular character scours the galaxy for criminals with the aid of a 10-year old companion traveling the stars in a rocket-powered ice cream truck. Netflix has released a teaser trailer showcasing Bianchi's concept art and Millar's script below:

"When I joined Netflix on staff last year we had this crazy plan of a big sci-fi universe of movies and Sharkey is the first of these,” explained Millar in a written statement through Netflix. "Sharkey kicks off a whole world of sci-fi that’s just a great action comedy in the style of all the movies I grew up with. I love blue-collar heroes and I like the parent/ kid dynamic from movies like Paper Moon or Leon: The Professional and, of course, Big Daddy and Hit-Girl."

The upcoming series marks a change of pace from the inaugural Millarworld Netflix series, The Magic Order, and next week's Prodigy, which delve into the worlds of fantasy horror and espionage action, respectively. A feature film script for Sharkey the Bounty Hunter was greenlit by Netflix last year with Michael Bacall (Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, 21 Jump Street) signed on to pen the film.

"This is all the things Star Wars or Marvel can’t get away with. We start where they kinda draw the line and I love this freedom creatively as we’ve never seen space done this way before," Millar continued. "To have Simone Bianchi drawing the comic-book side of all this and working from the amazing production designs is an honour. The team is just incredible. Simone and I have talking about working together since my days at Marvel so it’s a total blessing to finally be working with this Italian genius."

Sharkey the Bounter Hunter #1 is written by Mark Millar and illustrated by Simone Bianchi. It is scheduled to go on sale on February 20 from Image Comics and Netflix.
