May solicitations for Marvel Comics reveal Miles Morales/Spider-Man will become the publisher's latest Hulk as part of the character's What If... series.
In May, Marvel will release What If... Miles Morales #3, by Anthony Piper and Edgard Salazar. The plot synopsis for the alternate reality tale teases Miles getting hit with gamma radiation and turning into the Hulk. In addition to dealing with the everyday life of a kid, he'll have to take on a version of Abomination.
Miles joins a number of other characters who've become a version of the Hulk over the years. Recently, Donny Cates and Ryan Ottley's run on Hulk introduced a version of Peter Parker from Earth-122 that'd been bitten by a gamma irradiated spider, thus turning him into a version of the Green Goliath.
What If... Miles Morales is a series of comics investigating potential versions of the titular hero. The first issue of the series, which is by Cody Ziglar and Medina, releases March 2 and explores a world in which Miles becomes Captain America. The second installment of the series will see Miles becoming a version of Wolverine. Slated for release on April 6, that story comes from John Ridley and Farid Karami.
Created by Brian Michael Bendis and Sara Pichelli, Miles first appeared in 2011's Ultimate Fallout #4 and originated outside the main Marvel-616 universe. Instead part of Ultimate Marvel, Miles took on the mantle of Spider-Man following Peter Parker's death. Later, 2015's Secret Wars event folded Miles and a few other key elements of Ultimate Marvel into the Earth-616 continuity.
One of Marvel's most well-known heroes, Bruce Banner/Hulk first appeared in 1962's The Incredible Hulk #1. Banner, who was created by Stan lee and Jack Kirby, received his powers when he was exposed to gamma radiation, thus allowing him to turn into incredibly powerful and nearly-indestructible Hulk.
