Miles Morales debuted his new cinematic suit in 2023’s Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. After impressing fans with his unique take on Spider-Man’s classic suit in Into the Spider-Verse, he updated and modified the costume for the highly-anticipated sequel. Of course, it’s not the first new costume Miles Morales has worn in the movies or the comics.

When Miles Morales first decided to swing into action, he modified a store-bought costume much like his big-screen counterpart. However, Miles soon appeared in his most iconic costume before he put his own spin on the suit with an updated redesign. Morales has bonded with symbiotes and had his costume magically altered by Weirdworld to add to his ever-growing wardrobe.

A genetically-modified spider bit MIles Morales while the Ultimate Spider-Man was still swinging around New York City. However, he didn’t actually suit up as Spider-Man until after the death of Peter Parker on Earth-1610 during the Ultimatum event.

Miles Morales purchased a Spider-Man Halloween costume that he worried might be in bad taste. It was similar to Peter Parker’s costume, though it featured knee pads and didn’t fit quite right. The Ultimate variant of Spider-Woman known as Jessica Drew revealed the costume was actually in bad taste, and Morales soon received his iconic upgrade.

2018’s Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse introduced Miles Morales with a storebought Spider-Man costume, much like his comics counterpart. However, he quickly abandoned his makeshift costume when he decided to dive into his new role as Spider-Man.

Miles Morales covered his more traditional superhero suit with some clothes carefully selected from his own closet. Miles Morales wore a loose-fitting grey jacket with a red hoodie underneath, which he paired with shorts and a pair of shoes. His initial cinematic look appeared in marketing for the animated film and separated the character from other established versions of Spider-Man.

While Miles Morales spent some time with the all-new, all-different Avengers, he left the team with a few friends to join the modern iteration of the Champions. One of the Champions’ missions took them to the mystical realm known as Weirdworld.

As soon as they arrived on Weirdworld, the realm mystically altered them into fantasy versions of their normal selves. Miles Morales became the Shadow-Spider, a highly-trained rogue with throwing daggers and a mystical cloak of invisibility and teleportation. Spider-Shadow’s suit quickly became a fan-favorite, though this version of Miles was short-lived and has yet to return.

7 Morales' Captain Universe Costume

Miles Morales has proven himself worthy of the title of Spider-Man not just to Peter Parker, but also to other variants. He fought alongside the team of Spider-Men that became known as the Spider-Army for the first time during the Spider-Verse event.

When the Inheritors returned with their patriarch Solus, new rosters of the Spider-Army formed to combat them. Miles Morales took control at a key moment when other more experienced Spiders were arguing with each other. The Enigma Force chose Miles Morales to become the new Captain Universe, which appeared over the top of his regular costume as he took down Solus.

6 Morales’ Absolute Carnage Symbiote

During the Absolute Carnage event, the Knull-enhanced Carnage created new symbiotes that he used to take control of characters to build his army. Carnage became one of Miles Morales' most iconic villains when one of the symbiotes forcibly bonded with the young Spider-Man.

When the symbiote first bonded to Miles Morales, He retained the details of his usual costume, though his face featured the controlling spiral of Knull and he gained four extra arms. Miles Morales eventually gained control of the symbiote and reconfigured it into a new stylish symbiote suit that allowed him to take the fight to Carnage alongside other heroes like Venom.

5 Dark Ages’ Merged Symbiote Costume

During the alternate reality Dark Ages series, a powerful machine known as the Unmaker threatened to tear Earth apart. Doctor Strange used an other-dimensional EMP to short-circuit the Unmaker, though the world lost all electrical power forever as well.

Miles Morales bonded with the Venom symbiote when the world fell, creating an amazing alternate Venom costume for Miles Morales. However, the Carnage and Venom symbiotes merged into a red-and-black monster. They took control of Miles and started working for Apocalypse. The surviving heroes eventually destroyed the symbiotes with fire and lightning to free Morales.

4 Into the Spider-Verse’s Upgraded Costume

When Miles Morales finally accepted his place as his universe’s Spider-Man in Into the Spider-Verse, he sought out help to look the part. Morales visited Peter Parker’s Aunt May, who made Miles his own set of web-shooters and gave him access to Parker’s lab.

Into the Spider-Verse established Miles Morales’ creative side and his preferred medium of street art. Morales modified one of Peter Parker’s existing Spider-Man costumes with a new paint job that made the costume uniquely his. While he painted the majority of the costume black, he left the red webbed fingertips and added his own symbol to the suit that became instantly iconic.

3 Across the Spider-Verse’s Upgraded Suit

When Miles Morales returned in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, he wore a brand new suit he designed himself. It was a sleeker fit that looked less homemade than his original costume, though not everyone on the Marvel team known as the Spider Society liked the new suit.

Miles Morales's new suit added striping under his arms that extended from the solid red of his palms. His new suit also solidified the design of his spider symbol while simplifying the rest of his costume. While characters like Peter B. Parker jokingly asked if his armpits were bleeding, it was still a great evolution of his cinematic suit that impressed most fans of the character.

2 Miles Morales’ Reimagined Spider Suit

Miles Morales's most recognizable suit may be one of his best, but somebody else designed it and gave it to him. The first suit completely designed by Miles Morales was his redesigned second costume, which was a big change for the character.

Morales’ new look as Spider-Man took inspiration from modern streetwear trends. His colors changed slightly to a dark neon pink instead of his usual red, and he started wearing an oversized sweatshirt with a new take on his spider symbol on the front. The suit featured new custom shoes as well which further solidified Miles Morales as a fashion icon among his superheroic peers.

1 Miles Morales’ First Official Costume

After Miles Morales made his debut in his store-bought Halloween costume, S.H.I.E.L.D. brought him in for questioning. They wanted him to quit, but he proved himself in battle with the Ultimates when Electro broke free from the Triskelion.

The Ultimates still had their reservations about Morales operating as Spider-Man given the recent death of Peter Parker. It was Peter Parker’s clone Jessica Drew who ultimately gave Miles Morales her blessing. Nick Fury then handed over a brand new costume, which has become Miles Morales's most iconic look that has appeared in a few Spider-Man cartoons and video games.
