Hellboy creator Mike Mignola is ready for more movies centered around his character following the release of director Neil Marshall's upcoming reboot.

At New York Comic Con, Mignola revealed there have been conversations about a sequel film. "My hope would be -- this version is so close to the comic that we would be able to go back to the comic and pick out something to do next," he explained. "With the next one, at least we can go back and start with the comic somewhere."Although it certainly isn't an announcement for a new movie, Mignola's statements indicate that, if Hellboy does well, more films could make their way to theaters.

While there's still a lot unknown about the movie's plot at this time, the movie will see Hellboy go up against Nimue the Queen of Blood. The film itself will be based on Mignola and artist Duncan Fegredo’s three miniseries, “Darkness Calls,” “The Wild Hunt” and “The Storm and the Fury.”

Although Hellboy was originally slated for release in January 2019, Summit Entertainment announced last month that the film would instead release in April. A panel for the film was held at NYCC on Saturday where an NYCC-exclusive trailer debuted.
