The original Mighty Morphin Power Rangers lineup be returning in their entirety to the small screen for the franchise's 30th anniversary.

According to The Illuminerdi, Hasbro has reportedly asked all remaining members of the original Power Rangers team to return for an anniversary special to celebrate Power Rangers' 30-year milestone, though this has not been officially confirmed. The original cast of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers consisted of Jason Lee Scott/Red Ranger (Austin St. John), Kimberly Hart/Pink Ranger (Amy Jo Johnson), Trini Kwan/Yellow Ranger (Thuy Trang), Zack Taylor/Black Ranger (Walter Jones) and Billy Cranston/Blue Ranger (David Yost).

If the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers were to reunite for the anniversary special, it would mark the first time that the original cast has had a proper on-set reunion since the first Red, Yellow, and Black Rangers departed from the series in 1994. The three characters left the show under the pretenses of attending a peace conference abroad. While St. John and Jones have made various appearances throughout the franchise since then, Trang tragically passed away in 2001.

It is not yet clear which members, if any, of the original cast have signed on to return for the special, though all have been extended the offer. Apart from St. John and Wilson's previous returns to the franchise, Jason David Frank has also become an indelible part of Power Rangers history. Outside the first three seasons of the original series, Frank's Tommy Oliver/Green Ranger has made appearances across seven iterations of the franchise, including 2018's Power Rangers Super Ninja Steel.

Apart from Hasbro's 30th-anniversary special, it was announced in November 2021 that Netflix would be creating its own Power Rangers projects in partnership with Hasbro-owned Entertainment One. With The End of the F***ing World creator Jonathan Entwistle at the helm, these projects would effectively reboot the franchise with a brand-new universe to explore.

Created by Haim Saban and Shuki Levy, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers premiered in 1993 and was based on the already popular Japanese Super Sentai franchise produced by Toei Company. In addition to inspiring a line of action figures and other toys, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers spawned multiple spinoff series, movies and comic books. As of 2021, the Power Rangers universe consists of 28 television seasons of 21 different themed series, 12 comic series and three theatrical films released in 1995, 1997, and 2017.

Boom! Studios also released a comic book adaptation of the franchise, which began in February 2016 with Kyle Higgins and Hendry Prasetya's Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #1. Since the first issue was published, it has spun off into multiple miniseries, as well as two currently ongoing main titles covering the current comic book Rangers' exploits. The Boom! Studios entry into the franchise is currently building towards its own 100 issue milestone event.

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers' 30th anniversary special does not yet have a release date.
