Steven Brill, the executive producer for Disney+'s upcoming Mighty Ducks sequel series, teased that Mighty Ducks alum Joshua Jackson could make a cameo in the series.

Brill touched on potential cameos, noting, "We've executed certain aspects of that question," to reporters at the Television Critics Association winter press tour, as reported by TVLine.

"We've talked to Josh [Jackson] over the years developing this and he's part of the family, part of the group," Brill said. "And everyone else, when and where they show up, is an open, exciting question." Other Mighty Ducks alumni who fans speculated may appear in the Game Changers series include Elden Henson (Fulton Reed), Danny Tamberelli (Tommy Duncan), Jussie Smollett (Terry Hall) and Kenan Thompson (Russ Tyler).

Jackson portrayed Charlie Conway in all three films of The Mighty Ducks franchise. The original 1992 Mighty Ducks film found Charlie being skeptical of Emilio Estevez's Gordon Bombay, the new coach of the Mighty Ducks youth hockey team. The pair were ultimately able to work together to help the Ducks win the Pee Wee State Championship

D2: The Mighty Ducks found Charlie and his teammate uniting to play under Coach Bombay as part of Team USA in the Goodwill Games Tournament. D3: The Mighty Ducks found Charlie leading the Ducks as team captain under the tutelage of new coach Ted Orion. The film also found Charlie falling for Linda, a skeptic of athletes whose opinion he attempts to change.

While it's unclear what role Jackson's character would portray in the new Disney+ series, Brill revealed that a potential romance could develop between Coach Bombay and Lauren Graham's Alex, the mother of Bombay's new team member Evan.

According to the synopsis for The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers reads,

In the 10-episode season set in present day Minnesota, the Mighty Ducks have evolved from scrappy underdogs to an ultra-competitive, powerhouse youth hockey team. After 12-year-old Evan Morrow (Brady Noon) is unceremoniously cut from the Ducks, he and his mom, Alex (Lauren Graham), set out to build their own team of misfits to challenge the cutthroat, win-at-all-costs culture of youth sports today. With the help of Gordon Bombay (Emilio Estevez), they rediscover the joys of playing just for love of the game.

The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers stars Lauren Graham, Emilio Estevez, Brady Noon, Maxwell Simkins, Swayam Bhatia, Luke Islam, Kiefer O’Reilly, Taegen Burns, Bella Higginbotham, and DJ Watts. The series premieres Friday, March 26 on Disney+.
