After writing and directing last year's acclaimed horror movie Hereditary, filmmaker Ari Aster's follow-up, Midsommar, has released its first trailer.

The debut trailer has several friends arriving at a remote mid-summer festival in Sweden only to find it the home of a bizarre pagan cult. As the sunny event begins, the celebration quickly turns into violent, bloody competition putting everyone's lives and sanity in jeopardy with no visible escape.

Writing and directing this upcoming horror movie as well, Aster has assembled an all-star cast for his second feature film including Florence Pugh (Fighting with My Family), Jack Reynor (Transformers: Age of Extinction), Will Poulter (Black Mirror: Bandersnatch) and William Jackson Harper (The Good Place).

And judging by the first trailer, while the setting is certainly brighter and more idyllic than Hereditary, Aster has a completely different kind of cult-driven horror planned for movie audiences in his follow-up film.
