The long-rumored, long-awaited remaster of Bethesda SoftworksQuake is finally here.

The Quake remaster retails for $9.99 on the Microsoft Store and boasts "up to 4K and widescreen resolution support, enhanced models, dynamic and colored lighting, anti-aliasing, depth of field, the original, atmospheric soundtrack and theme song by Trent Reznor, and more." Alongside the enhanced port of the original Quake, fans of the franchise can also look forward to the addition of Quake II and Quake III Arena to Xbox Game Pass. While neither of the sequels have been remastered, both games are available for purchase separately. The listing for each game confirms their Games Pass launch and release date of Aug. 19. The titles are not yet available on Microsoft's subscription platform, though it's possible that Game Pass's servers are still catching up with the sudden release of the games.

Quake sees the player stepping into the role of an unnamed protagonist as they venture out into a variety of dimensions to stop an evil entity only known as "Quake." The game's fast-paced gameplay and wide variety of locations and weapons ensured its place as an instant classic among shooter fans.

Quake, widely considered to be one of the most important first-person shooters of all time, is largely seen as establishing the template for many modern games. Its fully-realized 3D environments, multiplayer specific maps and emphasis on social play are even responsible for most modern online games.

The remaster of Quake, as well as Quake II and Quake III Arena, are all available on the Microsoft Store for Xbox and PC. They're also available on Game Pass Ultimate.
