The Walking Dead will soon be returning for its tenth season, and incoming showrunner Angela Kang has already promised that one of the season's major arcs will focus around Michonne and her relationship with Ezekiel -- a relationship that will still feature Carol, Ezekiel's ex, in some capacity.

Of course, season 10 will also be the final run for Danai Gurira's fan-favorite katana-swinging, Michonne. Before her exit, however, Kang has assured fans that they will be sending the character on what will most assuredly be an emotional farewell tour.

Speaking with TV Line, Kang promised Season 10 "showcases [Michonne's] leadership and strength, and her love for her people and her family. I'm excited to have the audience see Danai's work during this last arc on the show, because she's just amazing. She brings so much to every episode she's in."

A previous sneak peek of the show featured Michonne wielding Negan's infamous baseball bat, Lucille, against the former leader of The Saviors. Negan had finally earned Michonne's begrudging respect by the end of Season 9, and the teaser suggests their tenuous alliance is potentially a short-lived one.

AMC's The Walking Dead stars Norman Reedus, Danai Gurira, Melissa McBride, Josh McDermitt, Christian Serratos, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Nadia Hilker, Dan Fogler, Angel Theory, Lauren Ridloff and Eleanor Matsuura. The series returns for Season 10 on Oct. 6.
