Actor Michelle Yeoh's Emperor Georgiou may get her very own Star Trek: Discovery spinoff.
According to Deadline, Yeoh is in talks with CBS All Access to reprise her role as Emperor Georgiou in a stand-alone series focused on the character. Yeoh, who is coming off a massive box office success with Crazy Rich Asians, also played Captain Philippa Georgiou, who died during the show's first season. Emperor Georgiou is that character's Mirror Universe doppelganger. The character is expected to return for Star Trek: Discovery Season 2, and it seems likely that her own show could spin out of her adventures in that season, particularly her involvement with Starfleet's Section 31.
The project would be one of many currently in works at CBS All Access in order to achieve its goal of having Star Trek series run throughout the entire year. The network has already started work on a solo series focused on Patrick Stewart's Captain Jean-Luc Picard and a Star Trek animated comedy series from Rick and Morty writer Mike McMahan.
Returning Thursday, Jan. 17, on CBS All Access, Star Trek: Discovery stars Sonequa Martin-Green, Doug Jones, Anthony Rapp, Shazad Latif, Mary Wiseman, Wilson Cruz, Mary Chieffo, Anson Mount, Ethan Peck and Michelle Yeoh.
