As promised in January, a sequel to 2000's Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon is going to make its way to the big screen. More details about Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon II -- The Green Destiny have been released, and some of them might set fans' minds at ease.

First and foremost, The Weinstein Company announced that Donnie Yen and Michelle Yeoh will reprise their roles as Silent Wolf and Yu Shu Lien, respectively. That alone lends a great deal of credibility to the film, as it absolutely needed to have some of the original actors return in order to make people believe this actually is a sequel. So far none of the other original cast members are coming back, but just these two big names should be enough.

Original director Ang Lee has been replaced by Yuen Woo-ping, whose involvement in The Green Destiny is actually pretty exciting, as he was the fight choreographer for Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. The John Fusco-penned screenplay is based on Wang Du Lu's Iron Knight, Silver Vase, the fifth book in his Crane-Iron Pentology, so at least The Green Destiny has some basis for existing.

Details of this project came out at Cannes, and The Weinstein Company announced that Harvey Weinstein, Yen and Woo-ping will participate in a press conference at the festival on Saturday.
