Michael Rooker is no stranger to the world of fandom. Many fans know him best for his roles as Yondu Udonta in the Guardians of the Galaxy films and the infamous Merle Dixon in The Walking Dead, among other notable roles.

It looks like we’ll be seeing more of the actor soon. It has now been announced by Deadline that Rooker will be joining the cast of the upcoming Blumhouse Productions and Sony Pictures film Fantasy Island.

While plot details have not yet been released, the film will be an adaptation of the television series that ran from 1977 to 1984, in which visitors to a mysterious island had the ability to live out their fantasies, but not without consequences. The film will star Michael Peña of Ant-Man fame as Mr. Roarke, the island’s overseer, who was played by Ricardo Montalban in the series.

Co-staring alongside Rooker and Peña will be Lucy Hale, Maggie Q, Portia Doubleday, Jimmy O. Yang, Ryan Hansen, Charlotte McKinney, Parisa Fitz-Henley and Austin Stowell.

The film is directed by Jeff Wadlow, who also co-wrote the script along with his previous Truth or Dare co-writers Chris Roach and Jillian Jacobs. The movie is scheduled to hit theaters on Feb. 28, 2020, with production beginning on Jan. 14.
