The following contains spoilers for Batman #135 from DC Comics.

Bruce Wayne comes face-to-face with Batman '89's Dark Knight, who was played by Michael Keaton in the Tim Burton-directed film, in DC's Batman #135.

Batman #135 comes from writer Chip Zdarsky, artists Mike Hawthorne, Jorge Jiménez, Mikel Janín and Adriano Di Benedetto, colorists Tomeu Morey and Romulo Fajardo Jr. and letterer Clayton Cowles. In the current "The Bat-Man of Gotham," Bruce has found himself trapped in an alternate version of Gotham following a battle with Failsafe. In order to get home, Bruce has had to face Red Mask -- a dangerous version of the Joker who is messing around with multiversal energy in an attempt to learn more about Prime Earth's Clown Prince of Crime.

Bruce Wayne meets Michael Keaton's Batman '89 in DC's Batman #900

Bruce gets sucked into Red Mask's multiverse device after being betrayed by this world's version of Catwoman/Selina Kyle in Batman #135. While this causes him to meet and interact many different versions of the Dark Knight over the course of the issue, the first place Bruce lands is in the Batman '89 universe.

Keaton's Role in the Batman '89 Universe and Batman #900, Explained

Batman '89 is a six-issue comic series released in 2021 from writer Sam Hamm and artist Joe Quinones. The series followed the canon established in Tim Burton's two live-action Batman films -- 1989's Batman and 1992's Batman Returns -- and continues the adventures of Michael Keaton's Caped Crusader, along with the other characters from the films who inhabit Gotham City. Keaton is also set to reprise his role as Batman in DC's The Flash, which is scheduled to release theatrically on June 16, 2023.

Upon arriving in this version of Gotham, Prime Earth's Batman is greeted by a large television screen informing the city that the Joker/Jack Napier's (played by Jack Nicholson in Burton's film) body has gone missing. Bruce is then greeted by Keaton's Dark Knight. "Do you have anything to do with this?" Batman '89's Dark Knight asks. "I'm Batman. And, it appears, so are you." Bruce, however, hardly has time to answer before he's sucked back into the multiverse. "Red Mask must be hopping universes!" Bruce narrates. "And I'm being pulled behind thanks to the tracking device."

Batman #135 features cover art by Jiménez and variant cover art by Joe Quesada, Kevin Nowlan, Richard Isanove, Gabriele Dell'Otto, Kael Ngu, Jim Cheung, Jay David Ramos, Lee Bermejo and Stanley "Artgerm" Lau. The issue is on sale now from DC.
