Michael Fassbender's Macbeth has a fateful encounter with the three witches -- well, three and a half -- in this clip from director Justin Kurzel's dark reimagining of the Shakespearean tragedy, which arrives courtesy of The Guardian.

Fassbender stars as the ambitious 11th-century Scottish lord who seizes the throne with the help of his wife, played by Marion Cotillard. Best known for the 2011 biographical crime drama "Snowtown," Kurzel is reuniting with the two actors for the adaptation of "Assassin's Creed."

Opening Oct. 2 in the United Kingdom and Dec. 4 in the United States, “Macbeth” also stars David Thewlis as King Duncan, Sean Harris as Macduff and Paddy Considine as Banquo.
