The Michael Bay-produced pirate drama Black Sails will set out to sea bright and early in the coming new year on Starz.

The network has announced an official premiere date: Saturday, Jan. 25 at 9 p.m. EST/PST. More often than not, Saturday time slots are considered a death sentence for original programming, but AMC's Western drama Hell on Wheels broke that rule and then some, earning an expanded fourth season pick-up.

For Black Sails, renewal isn't an issue; the series is already in production on a 10-episode second season, well ahead of the first eight-episode season's premiere.

Black Sails centers on Captain Flint (Toby Stephens), a brilliant and feared pirate who takes a fast-talking youth named John Silver (Luke Arnold) under his wing. Zack McGowan, Hannah New and Jessica Parker Kennedy also star.
