The new thriller Songbird, hailing from producer Michael Bay, has announced a release date for when it will premiere on premium video-on-demand outlets.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, distributor STXfilm will debut Songbird on PVOD outlets on Dec. 11. It will also eventually stream on a yet-be-named streaming service.

"The pandemic has affected every aspect of our business, from production to release," said STXfilms head Adam Fogelson. "But Songbird demonstrates that a nimble studio like STX can find effective and profitable ways to make their movies work, as we have similarly with Greenland and My Spy during these challenging times. The show must go on."

Songbird was one of the first movies to shoot in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. Shortly after filming began, production on Songbird was halted in July over COVID-19 safety protocols. In response, SAG-AFTRA subsequently issued a do not work notice on the project, but it was lifted just two days later. Principal photography eventually wrapped up in early August.

Directed by Adam Mason, Songbird stars KJ Apa, Sofia Carson, Craig Robinson, Peter Stormare, Alexandra Daddario, Demi Moore, Paul Walter Hauser, Bradley Whitford, Jenna Ortega, Ethan Josh Lee, Lia McHugh and Michole Briana White. It will arrive on PVOD outlets on Dec. 11.
