Remember all of that controversy about Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles in Jonathan Liebesman and Michael Bay's franchise reboot not actually being mutants, but rather aliens? Well, according to Bay, it was all over nothing.

In a new interview, Bay claims that not only are the Turtles no longer members of an alien race, but they never were to begin with. He just didn't feel the need to correct people, despite the fact he's been repeatedly outspoken about the movie in the past.

"There was that quote saying that we’re making [the Ninja Turtles as] aliens. We're not," Bay told Moviefone. "It’s the ooze! It’s from the original source material. These are from the original writers, and I never went out to correct myself in the press. I do listen to the fans and I do want this to be authentic. I think they’re going to be really happy with this movie. When I see the digital stuff, the turtles look great."

That coupled with the fact the film will seemingly be called Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles instead of Ninja Turtles like it had been originally planned makes it seem like Bay, Liebesman and Paramount Pictures are listening to early criticisms of the project. Hopefully that means this Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film won't be as terrible as a lot of people are dreading.

The movie, which just began filming, stars Alan Ritchson as Raphael, Noel Fisher as Michelangelo, Jeremy Howard as Donatello, Pete Ploszek as Leonardo and Megan Fox as April O’Neal and Danny Woodburn as Splinter. The film was recently rewritten by Evan Daugherty (Snow White and the Huntsman), and is scheduled for a June 6, 2014 release.
