Michael Bay Enlists in Ghost Recon

Michael Bay isn’t finished toying around with Transformers, but he’s also not through looking at other established franchises to bring to theaters.

Case in point: Variety reports he’s set to bring the Bayhem to Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon. According to the website, the filmmaker has signed on to develop the Ubisoft video game franchise as a Warner Bros. feature, with an eye to direct the project.

Ghost Recon focuses on an elite group of soldiers that operates directly under the President’s authority, using weapons and technology that are far ahead of anything already known in the modern world. Ubisoft Motion Picture CEO Jean-Julien Baronnet explained to Variety that Ghost Recon doesn’t “belong to any specific organization,” and is “a very small team with very strong personalities and very specific skill sets.”

As for why the company wanted to work with Bay, Baronnet simply said, “Because he is a master at action movies.”

Ghost Recon is just the latest video-game property Ubisoft is turning into a feature film. The company also has Assassin’s Creed eyed for a May 2015 release date. with Michael Fassbender in the lead role, and a still-developing Splinter Cell, which has Tom Hardy attached to play Sam Fisher.
