Michael Bay dropped a huge bomb on fans while he was promoting the upcoming fifth installment in the Transformers film franchise, "Transformers: The Last Knight," in London. It turns out that once he leaves the $3.78 billion franchise, the Transformers are going to expand into a vast extended universe.

Fans were already aware of the planned 2018 Bumblebee spin-off film and another sequel in 2019. On top of that, it looks like audiences are in for a major influx of the Transformers over the coming years with 14 stories already in development. This news will likely lend credence to the rumored Autobots vs. Decepticons origin film, as well.

Michael Bay is looking to go out on top with "Transformers: The Last Knight," daring to delve a little deeper with the film's themes. According to the official synopsis of "Last Knight": "There comes a moment in everyone’s life when we are called upon to make a difference. In Transformers: The Last Knight, the hunted will become heroes. Heroes will become villains. Only one world will survive: theirs, or ours."

Opening June 23, “Transformers: The Last Knight” stars franchise veterans Mark Wahlberg, Stanley Tucci, Josh Duhamel, Tyrese Gibson and John Turturro, joined by newcomers Isabela Moner, Liam Garrigan, Jerrod Carmichael, Mitch Pileggi, Laura Haddock, Santago Cabrera and Anthony Hopkins
