During the theatrical release of Marvel's Black Panther, it came out that Michael B. Jordan, who plays the villainous Erik Killmonger, is an anime fan -- a rather big one. Now, he's finally becoming an anime character as the lead of Rooster Teeth's anime series gen:LOCK.

Jordan will be voicing the show's lead Julian Chase, leaving behind the life of a fighter pilot to become the first candidate for the new program. In anticipation of his character's debut, Jordan posted a tease on Instagram depicting Chase's visual style.

Set in a futuristic world during a global war, gen:LOCK tells the story of Earth's last free society and the team of young pilots recruited to control giant mechs. Along with having the lead role, Jordan's company Outlier Productions is producing the series.

gen:LOCK is one of several animated ventures Rooster Teeth will be releasing this year, along with the third season of animated comedy Camp Camp, the back half of new series Nomad of Nowhere and the sixth season of the anime series RWBY.

gen:LOCK was first revealed last year at Rooster Teeth's RTX, and it will premiere later this year on the company's streaming service. The series is just another big project that Jordan has lined up for the year; in addition to Black Panther, Jordan was the lead in HBO's recent adaptation of Fahrenheit 451 and is currently filming Creed II.
