My Hero Academia is based around a universe in which most citizens are born with Quirks, aka superpowers, such as the power to fly or manipulate fire. When this genetic mutation arose, the need for a new job role did too -- the Pro Hero. While heroes redefined society as it was known, villains began to lurk in the shadows, creating organizations such as the League of Villains. Students of UA High School are trained to become Pro Heroes, with many hoping to graduate and create hero agencies alongside their classmates, taking down these villain organizations.

Current UA teachers Eraserhead and Present Mic had these same hopes until their friend Oboro Shirakumo, also known as Loud Cloud, suffered fatalities in combat and his body was never recovered -- until recently. League of Villains antagonist Kurogiri has been captured and interrogated, revealing that he is a Nomu made from the body of the deceased Oboro. However, there could be a way to bring Loud Cloud back to humanity -- and young Eri could be the key.

What Is Eri’s Quirk in My Hero Academia?

Eri from My Hero Academia using her quirk, Rewind.

Eri is a young, timid girl who was exploited by Overhaul due to her Quirk's raw power, despite wanting no part in the villain's plans. Through rigorous experiments, the antagonist discovered Eri could rewind a person to any previous state or even out of existence entirely, which the young girl accidentally did to her father when the Quirk manifested. This power does have incredible evil potential; it can be used to suppress or even erase Quirks entirely, something Overhaul took full advantage of while Eri was his captive.

However, Eri's Quirk is one of My Hero Academia's most powerful and has as much potential to be used for good. She can heal wounds, rewinding the victim to a state before the injury was sustained, and she once used her ability to heal the hero who saved her from Overhaul: Izuku Midoriya. In theory, Eri has the potential to become a hero like Recovery Girl, working behind the scenes to restore the health of heroes or civilians injured in battle. Though, with the rise of Nomu, Eri's quirk may have an even more important future.

What Is the League of Villains' Kurogiri?

Kurogiri in My Hero Academia.

One of MHA's main antagonists, Kurogiri is a high-end Nomu created by Dr. Garaki from the corpse of Oboro Shirakumo to serve the villain Tomura Shigaraki under All For One's demand. The Doctor has created an incredible number of Nomu to mindlessly support AFO as super soldiers. He achieves this by heavily modifying deceased bodies, making them strong enough to handle multiple Quirks at one time.

Kurogiri is the earliest known Nomu to exist, crafted from the stolen body of Oboro when he was a UA student. Through combining many Quirks -- including Loud Cloud's ability to create clouds dense enough to support the weight of people or store things -- Kurogiri's Warp Gate Quirk was manifested. Using this power, Kurogiri can create and manipulate a dark fog that acts as a portal.

How Eri Could Help Restore Oboro Shirakumo

Oboro breaks through Kurogiri in My Hero Academia.

Given that Eri can rewind and erase Quirks and has the ability to heal injuries, she could theoretically use Rewind to separate Oboro from Kurogiri. Seeing as Nomu are just humans filled with various Quirks, Eri may be able to erase the work Dr. Garaki did to mutate Loud Cloud's corpse. When she accidentally used Rewind on Mirio Togata's Permeation, she didn't alter his memory or physical state; therefore, she could potentially focus on rewinding just one aspect. If this is possible, Eri could restore Oboro to his human form -- and maybe even keep the power of Warp Gate.

However, Eri is still very young and, after being used by Overhaul for a long period, she believes her Quirk is evil. Of course, Aizawa, Midoriya and Mirio have been working hard with the young girl throughout MHA to help realize her potential and heal her trauma. If Eri eventually masters her Quirk, she could be the key to bringing back Eraserhead and Present Mic's good friend and begin using Rewind for good.
