A new cosplay of My Hero Academia's Star and Stripe isn't actually a costume at all -- it's body paint.
Cosplayer and make-up artist Sailor Kayla uploaded the image of her stunning cosplay to Instagram. Other than the hair, the entire ensemble is created using only body paint and makeup. The cosplayer provided a list of the products she used in the post's description.
Much like Izuku Midoriya/Deku, the protagonist of My Hero Academia, the United States' No. 1 Pro Hero was heavily inspired by All Might. This is reflected in the Star and Stripe quote Sailor Kayla posted alongside her stunning cosplay, which reads, "I'll never forget the sight of those two hair tufts! He was my role model from that day forward!! As a show of my own even greater dedication to peace, I went for... eight tufts!"
The ongoing My Hero Academia manga series by Kōhei Horikoshi was first published in Shueisha's Weekly Shōnen Jump on July 7, 2014, and so far, has produced 32 volumes worth of content. The anime adaptation, which is animated by studio Bones and written by Yōsuke Kuroda, premiered in Japan on April 3, 2016. The fifth season ended earlier this year and a sixth season has already been confirmed. In the manga, Star and Stripe was first seen as a silhouette in Chapter 303, "Top Three," before being fully revealed in Chapter 328, "No Man Is an Island." Star and Stripe's goal is to help the Japanese Pro Heroes defeat All For One and Tomura Shigaraki at all costs.
Star and Stripe isn't the only superhero from My Hero Academia that Sailor Kayla has brought to life with bodypaint; posts of her equally impressive cosplays of All Might and Nejire Chan can all be found on her Instagram account. The series has inspired a creative community of fans, which also includes fellow cosplayer Concussion_Cosplay created a Deku costume that glows with power and a quirky fan theory by YouTuber AnimeUproar speculates how time travel may be integrated into the story.
Fan-made content isn't the only thing that My Hero Academia fans have been treated to recently. The series' producers recently announced that the home video release of My Hero Academia: World Heroes' Mission will include a brand new Hawks short and they also released a new promotional image for Season 6 of anime that teases an epic showdown between Deku and Shigaraki.
