Like their heroic counterparts, the My Hero Academia universe's villains cannot thrive through the merit of their own raw strength. To match Japan's finest heroes, many unique supporting evildoers must reinforce their efforts.

Though said criminals may not necessarily have merit in their combat abilities, they are an essential staple of the syndicates they belong to. Without the quirks at their disposal, their respective organizations would fall apart, which goes to show how important support is to villains. Here are the 10 strongest support villains in My Hero Academia.

10 Shin Nemoto

Shin may be useless in a direct fight (save for the guns that he fires with moderate proficiency), though his "Confession" quirk renders him among Overhaul's most valuable lieutenants. With it, he can pry the truth from his targets, compelling them to give him the answers he seeks.

Not only does this make him a peerless interrogator, but it can also coerce honesty from untrustworthy allies. He would employ this skill against Twice and Himiko Toga to force them to tell him the full extent of their quirks.

9 Hari Kurono

Hari Kurono's hairstyle may be an unusual choice, though it is one that behooves his quirk. He can extend it at great lengths, paralyzing anyone that it touches. This was a power he employed against Eraserhead during the raid on the Yakuza base, preventing him from assisting in Deku's fight against Overhaul.

Somewhat practical in combat, Hari's quirk is most useful for capturing targets alive since it does not apply lethal force. Ironically, this would have made him an excellent hero, should he have chosen a different path.

8 Kagero Okuta

One of the most debilitating challenges the criminal underworld faces is that they cannot openly recruit new initiates. This severely limits their numbers and forces them to fight conservatively against Japan's heroes.

Though Kagero may be incompetent in a physical fight, his quirk enables him to bolster the villains' number through relatively safe means. He can force his target to forget the previous five minutes of where they had been, as well as the next five minutes of what happens. This allows him to offer prospective evildoers a chance to join Shigaraki's forces without worrying that his cover will be exposed.

7 Hekiji

Hekiji mha

Hekiji was able to project powerful shields with his mind, one able to endure the powerful blows of Eijiro Kirishima. This made him an excellent complement to Rappa, serving as the de facto "shield" to the brawler's "spear."

Unfortunately for the criminal, he would not have any means of physically attacking his enemies. This forces him to rely on his allies' competence for success, though given how well he can apply his barriers, he is a strong ally that can complement virtually any quirk and enhance it in a team battle.

6 Twice

Twice mha

Twice's quirk allowed him to copy anything, with the subsequent duplicates able to replicate themselves. This would allow him to spawn a massive army that could do his bidding quickly. The only restriction behind his power was that he refused to clone himself, later overcoming this phobia in a desperate battle for survival.

Perhaps the most useful application of his power is through his talent in cloning others. He made a perfect clone of Dabi to attack Eraserhead during the Forest Camp arc, one that was nearly able to assassinate the pro hero.

5 Himiko Toga

Himiko Toga's quirk allows her to assume the physique and abilities of those she consumes the blood of. To best facilitate this power, she carries a tank and syringe on her back that she uses to drain her opponents. With higher quantities of blood, she can maintain any given form for longer.

Nonetheless, she is a subpar fighter, struggling against Froppy and retreating almost immediately when Bakugo managed to attack directly. Her assistance to Shigaraki's plans is primarily through her uncanny skill in espionage, as seen in the Hero Licensing Exam.

4 Deidoro Sakaki

Deidoro's quirk allowed him to make his opponents inebriated, offsetting their sense of balance. This was a tactic he employed against Mirio during the attack on Overhaul's hideout for his allies' endeavors against him to be more successful.

He was able to stagger Lemillion; an impressive feat, considering the tenacity the rising hero had displayed. Nonetheless, he was easily dispatched once Mirio gained his footing, as Sakaki's direct combat skills leave much to be desired.

3 Mr. Compress

Compress Using His Quirk On Bakugo

Mr. Compress may be a decent combatant, but he is a phenomenal supporting villain. With a single touch, he can reduce anything to the size of a marble, allowing them to abscond from desperate situations with their valued prize in hand.

This was a power that he used during the Forest Camp attack to capture Bakugo and Tokoyami. Was it not for the villain's overconfidence? Both students would have been entrapped firmly within the League's clutches, unable to escape until an outside force had released them from their makeshift glassy prisons.

2 La Brava

gentle and la brava

Though La Brava has no fighting skills to speak of (helpless against Deku when facing him without her lover), her quirk has the potential to be one of the deadliest supporting utilities in the series.

Once a day, her love can amplify the strength of its recipient tenfold. She was able to drastically enhance the power of Gentle Criminal, allowing for his average manipulation quirk to contend with the awesome power of One For All and even stand a chance of overcoming it. Should La Brava have loved someone more powerful than Gentle (such as Overhaul or All Might), her target would become unbeatable.

1 Kurogiri

Kurogiri warp gate villain

Gran Torino understood the importance of Kurogiri as he led the mission to capture him. The void villain was responsible for the League's innumerable escapes, his "Warp Gate" quirk rescuing Shigaraki from the jaws of defeat after the first failed attack on U.A High.

Almost equally as important, the man serves as a check to Tomura's sometimes petulant behavior. His wisdom and restraint prevented Shigaraki from fighting Stain in their hideout, which would have exposed them in their commotion and attracted All Might's attention long before they would have ever had the chance to capture Kacchan.
