The following contains spoilers for My Hero Academia Season 6, Episode 3, "One’s Justice", now streaming on Crunchyroll, Funimation and Hulu.

In a tragic turn of events, the League of Villains' Bubaigawara Jin, also known as Twice, was the first casualty of My Hero Academia’s ongoing Paranormal Liberation War. Even when facing Hawks, the Number 2 Hero and an obviously superior opponent, Twice refused to give up on his goal of protecting his friends.

In so doing, he inadvertently signed his death warrant. Twice will be missed by many My Hero Academia fans, but his death also leaves a gaping hole in his former team. Here’s how Twice’s demise will affect the League of Villains moving forward.

How Twice's Death Affects the League of Villains

Twice Goes On A Crime Spree In My Hero Academia

The obvious hit to the League is the loss in military strength. Even though Shigaraki Tomura has successfully absorbed the Paranormal Liberation Front into his original team, Twice by himself was still his personal army. Twice’s Quirk was Double, which allowed him to create a perfect replica of himself or any other person he’s previously measured. These doubles were indistinguishable from regular humans, and retained all the knowledge and skills their originals had at the time of measurement. The only detail differentiating them from regular humans was that his doubles would disappear after they were struck with enough force.

With his super move named Sad Man’s Parade, Twice created doubles of himself, who in turn created doubles of themselves that repeated the same process. In a matter of seconds, this chain reaction could cause him to go from a single man to over a thousand strong. With no discernible upper limit on his Quirk, the only drawback Twice suffered was that each successive double was more fragile than the last.

Twice’s Sad Man’s Parade was the strongest weapon in his arsenal. More than anything, the heroes feared it leading into their invasion of the Liberation Army Headquarters and it was the possibility of him unleashing it that resulted in his death. With his demise, the League of Villains has lost one of its main sources of raw power -- and the trump card that kept them insured against being suddenly overwhelmed by the Pro Heroes or other rival villain groups.

How Important Was Twice to MHA's League of Villains?

Himiko Toga Acts Sweet In The Forest In My Hero Academia

Without Twice, the League can no longer afford to take on dangerous missions as casually as they used to. Formerly, they could ask him to clone the current versions of themselves to escort them on raids. Even one Dabi is problem enough, but the League’s invasion of the Wild Wild Pussycats' training camp proved how problematic and distracting multiple Blueflames could be. Twice served as a harbinger of sorts for the League of Villains. Wherever he or any of his doubles went could be infiltrated by the League's full might in seconds. If these doubles were defeated, it wouldn’t matter; the original League would always be a safe distance away.

Moving away from his combat advantages, Twice’s death also means the League has lost his heart. In a group of sociopaths and general ne’er-do-wells, Twice’s often ill-timed comedic bursts served as tension relievers and helped to ground the more serious members. Young Himiko Toga will feel his loss the most; the two were especially close and depended on each other to help manage their mental imbalances.

With Twice gone, Toga -- and by extension the rest of the League -- can be expected to become even more unhinged as My Hero Academia continues. They’ll be darker and more violent than they have ever been depicted, which makes the whole group even more dangerous than they already are.
