The Sharingan from Naruto is one of the ninja series' most famed dojutsu. At the height of its power, it grants its user near god-like exclusive jutsus and the impenetrable Susanoo, but even its base form was enough to intimidate seasoned Jonin. The greatest asset it offered was the ability to trace and predict an opponent's movements, a trait that was almost perfectly mimicked by one of My Hero Academia's lesser-known Quirks.

One of the requirements for being a Pro-Hero in the MHA universe is a powerful Quirk. They don't have to be directly applicable to combat; Quirks like Eraserhead's Erasure, Ragdoll's Search, Hitoshi Shinso's Brainwash and Monoma Neito's Copy aren't traditionally powerful, but they've been invaluable to their hero work countless times. Nighteye's Foresight is another such example but since his Quirk's full potential disturbed him, he took a measured approach to activating Foresight.

Foresight grants Nighteye the ability to see anyone's future as long as he meets two conditions, the first being direct physical contact with the person in question and the second being eye contact with them. Once these are fulfilled, Nighteye can view a slideshow of their future activities from a third-person perspective. Unfortunately, this ability comes without sound so Foresight isn't a guaranteed "tell all" Quirk.

Exactly how far Nighteye can see into the future with Foresight hasn't been revealed but Nighteye self-imposed a limit on his Quirk. When he accidentally saw All Might's death he began to question the ethics of his Foresight, and whether telling someone their future was the same as dictating it. In the end, Nighteye decided never to use his Quirk to peek into anyone else's far future -- but he still needed to be able to use it for hero work.

Nighteye developed a workaround for his own Quirk by only ever activating Foresight to see mere seconds into his opponent's future. This way, he is always aware of their movements before they'd even decided to make them and could easily dodge or parry otherwise dangerous attacks. His years of experience working in the field and viewing so many villains' point of views gave Nighteye a knack for prediction that persisted even while his Quirk was inactive. The end result was that he was almost untouchable in battle.

The overall effect of this in My Hero Academia is remarkably similar to a Sharingan user's perceived intangibility in battle in Naruto. Even while facing opponents like Midoriya Izuku and Overhaul, who were far stronger and faster than he was, Nighteye retained the upper hand in close quarters. Despite both of them doing their utmost to capture him, Nighteye's predictions kept him just out of their grasp each time.
