My Hero Academia's flame throwing Dabi comes to life in a new makeup cosplay.
Makeup artist and cosplayer salma_aitb showed off their take on the villainous fire starter on Instagram. In the MHA story, Dabi gained his distinctive burned and scarred appearance after losing control of his powerful fire-generating Quirk; salma_aitb was able to recreate that look using just body paints and cosmetics.
In addition to their recreation of Dabi, salma_aitb has used their makeup artistry to transform themselves into several other anime characters with equally unique appearances, such as the Hashira humbling Akaza from Demon Slayer, Jujutsu Kaisen's sadistic Mahito and Death Note's mischievous super-natural reaper, Ryuk. The artist frequently posts their cosplays to their Instagram account, alongside info of what products they use and skincare tips.
Dabi fans should look forward to the next season of the My Hero Academia anime, as the villain will play a major role in the show's next story arc. Dabi serves as the one of the nine lieutenants of the Paranormal Liberation Front, an army of super-powered villains who start an all-out war against Japan's pro heroes. Dabi is just one of many opponents that Deku will have to contend with, though he won't be alone: the most recent trailer for the series was shown at this year's Jump Festa, and it shows off the countless superheroes and villains who will take part in the series' biggest battle yet. Season 6 of the anime is scheduled to premiere sometime in the fall of 2022.
While the MHA anime is heating up, Kohei Horikoshi's original manga is getting ready for the series' grand conclusion. After months of teasing that the story was getting close to its end, Horikoshi released a statement at Jump Festa that announced that, barring any unforeseen delays or hiatuses, Deku's story will finally come to an end sometime before the end of 2022. The news didn't come as a surprise to many fans, as publisher Shueisha teased in early 2021 that the series had entered its "final act," and the manga has begun wrapping up several story threads, including finally revealing who the traitor at UA High School is. Despite the story winding down, the franchise is as popular as it ever was; the latest movie in franchise, World Heroes' Mission, easily outperformed its prequels at the box office, while the manga was Japan's fifth best-selling series of the year, with over 7 million copies in 2021.
