For any hip-hop fan, it is no secret that Wu-Tang Clan member and actor Method Man is a huge comics book nerd. He recently spoke on wanting to bring a new character to the DC Extended Universe (DCEU) or the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).

Method Man talked about his idea on the podcast Jemele Hill is Unbothered. "I had a conversation with Idris Elba when there was a rumor going around that he was going to play the next James Bond, which I thought was big," he said. "In my head was like 'wow, we're about to diversify the James Bond shit!' But when I approached him with it, he was more or less like 'no, if anything I want to create a new character.'"

He told Hill about the moment Elba's words kickstarted the idea. "Which hit me in the head. Why not?" Method Man said. "I mean Marvel is such a big universe, why not create new characters of diversity, instead of gender swapping or whatever it is? Create new characters and introduce them…give them as much focus as you would the old characters, or even put them with the old characters to give them a nice start and work from there. I'd love to play a role for a new character that Marvel creates, or DC for that matter."

This is not the first time the actor has positioned himself to be a part of the MCU or DCEU. Earlier this year, he cosplayed as mutant resistance leader Bishop as a way to campaign for a role in the MCU. The rapper participated in two Marvel-centric podcasts — Marvels and Marvel's Voices — playing Ben Ulrich in the former. The actor is currently playing DA Davis Maclean in the Starz series Power Book II: Ghost.
