<i>Merlin</i> Returns To Syfy On Jan. 7

Syfy announced today that Merlin will return to the cable channel beginning Friday, Jan. 7, at 10 p.m. EST/PST.

The third season of the cult-hit series sees young Merlin (Colin Morgan) in more dangerous and dark battles in his secret quest to protect Prince Arthur (Bradley James) in fabled Camelot, where magic is forbidden by King Uther (Buffy the Vampire Slayer's Anthony Head). They rejoin Katie McGrath as the mesmerizing Morgana, who has her own dark destiny, Angel Coulby as her loyal maid Gwen, and Richard Wilson as the court physician Gaius. Guest stars Emilia Fox and Santiago Cabrera reprise their roles as Morgause and Lancelot, while renowned actor John Hurt again provides the voice of the Great Dragon.

The new, 13-episode season finds the kingdom is thrown into turmoil by the return of Morgana after a year’s absence.

To get fans ready for the return of Merlin, Syfy will re-run the first season beginning Dec. 13, then air a Season 2 marathon on Jan. 7.
