Lionsgate will develop a film based on James Tynion IV and Eryk Donovan's graphic novel, Memetic.

According to Deadline, the script will come from Mattson Tomlin, Matt Reeves' co-writer for The Batman. Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, James Weaver and Josh Fagenare attached to produce, alongside original publishers Boom! Studios’ Ross Richie and Stephen Christy. Fagen and Adam Yoelin will serve as executive producers.

The story follows a group of college students who must risk their lives to stop a mysterious viral meme that makes anyone who sees it turn violent from terrorizing their campus. The series was published in October 2014 as three oversized issues and was nominated for a 2015 GLAAD Award for Outstanding Comic Book.

It has been a good couple of months for Tynion IV. The writer just took over Batman from Tom King, and his new graphic novel The Woods is in development.

Written by Mattson Tomlin, Memetic is produced by Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, James Weaver and Josh Fagen, Ross Richie and Stephen Christy. Fagen and Adam Yoelin will serve as executive producers. No release date or casting details have been announced. The original graphic novel was written by James Tynion IV, with art from Eryk Donovan.
