Deadline reports Fox is developing a comedy-adventure starring Peter Pan's fairy sidekick Tinker Bell, with Melissa McCarthy attached to play the lead. Night at the Museum director Shawn Levy will helm the project, which came to life after a brainstorming session between between the two.

Nicholas Stoller (Muppets Most Wanted) will write the script for the untitled movie.

McCarthy starred earlier this year in Tammy, which crossed the $100 million mark globally despite less-than-favorable reviews. She recently co-starred with Bill Murray in the comedy-drama St. Vincent. Murray has been quoted as saying that he would love to see McCarthy in the Ghostbusters reboot, but it looks the actress might pick up pixie dust before a proton pack.

Levy has a lot on his plate, between directing the just-announced Forty Thieves and being attached to the Minecraft movie. His next film, Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb, opens Dec. 19.
