It certainly seemed as if Sookie St. James would never find her way back to Stars Hollow, but now actress Melissa McCarthy has announced she'll be part of Netflix's "Gilmore Girls" revival after all.
"There was a whole thing, and then I was going to be out of the country, blah, blah, blah, and literally about an hour and a half ago, we figure out that I'm going to go back and do it, and I am so excited," the "Ghosbusters" star told Ellen DeGeneres on her talk show. "And they're gonna be amazing."
McCarthy, who played Lorelai's fan-favorite best friend throughout the run of the original series (long before she became a movie star), told fans in February she hadn't been invited to return for the revival. However, creator Amy Sherman-Palladino was quick to clarify that everything hinges on McCarthy's busy schedule: “Melissa was one of us. If she has a spare moment to run over [to the set] — even if for just a cameo — we would be totally game. And if it’s a last-minute thing, I would write her in and we would figure it out.”
The revival, tentatively called "Gilmore Girls: Seasons," will be split into four 90-minut episodes, each focusing on a season of the year.
