Megumi Fushiguro is the cool-headed friend of Jujutsu Kaisen's protagonist, Yuji Itadori, and he is also a student at the Tokyo Jujutsu Sorcerer Academy along with Itadori and their other teammate, Nobara Kugisaki. Megumi is full of natural talent and powerful cursed energy, but he also struggles with a traumatic past and a tense family situation.

Part of his tumultuous family life includes his father, Toji Fushiguro, who becomes an antagonist at one point. Though the two are different in many ways, they also share similarities. There are ways in which Megumi seems to follow in his father's footsteps and other ways in which Megumi deviates from his father's path.

10 Alike: Neither Agrees With The Zenin Clan's Politics

The Zenin Clan is a family of powerful and renowned Jujutsu Sorcerers that hold a lot of control and influence over the Jujutsu Sorcery community. However, the clan leaders are more than problematic, and many of the clan's tactics and traditions are draconian and unacceptable.

For that reason, many wish to break away from the clan. Maki forged her path, while Maki's sister, Mai, hates the clan. Both Megumi and his father embarked on paths that left them at a distance from the clan.

9 Different: Megumi Has A Great Support System

Yuji grabbing Megumi

Toji Fushiguro had a hard life as a non-curse user born into the Zenin clan. Like Maki, he was doomed from that moment. However, unlike Maki and Megumi, Toji did not have a great support system to help him along the way. Megumi, on the other hand, can rely on his friends, and he was extremely affected by the supposed death of his new friend, Yuji Itadori.

Not only have Yuji Itadori and Nobara Kugisaki helped and saved Megumi along the way, but Megumi also has a mentor and semi-father-figure in the incredibly powerful Jujutsu Sorcerer and teacher, Gojo Satoru.

8 Alike: They Both Want To Get Stronger

Megumi and Toji both wanted to be strong despite the adversity. Like Maki, Toji focused his training on becoming one of the most feared fighters in the Jujutsu community. Meanwhile, Megumi worked on perfecting his Ten Shadows Technique.

Much of Toji's desire to become stronger has a lot to do with getting revenge on the Jujutsu Sorcery community for the trauma it delt him growing up. However, Megumi wants to get stronger to steer the Zenin clan in the right direction and to protect his friends.

7 Different: Megumi Wants To Be A Jujutsu Sorcerer

Toji ended up becoming an assassin who was infamous for killing Jujutsu Sorcerers, and thus he garnered the nickname the Sorcerer Killer. So, it is safe to say he never wanted to become a Jujutsu Sorcerer. On the other hand, Megumi wanted to perfect his sorcery technique and become a powerful and revered Jujutsu Sorcerer.

Their goals were very different, and a lot of this had to do with the fact that Gojo did not let Megumi be sold to the Zenin clan (on top of Megumi also being born with Cursed Energy, unlike his father).

6 Alike: They Are Incredibly Powerful

Megumi _ Cursed Energy _ Jujutsu Kaisen

Despite all odds, both the Fushiguros were extremely powerful, even if it was in different ways. They were both skilled in martial combat, but Toji's fighting skills were unparalleled in the Jujutsu Sorcery community. His lack of Cursed Energy did not stop him from becoming a terrifying foe.

On the other hand, Megumi has a Cursed Technique that is somewhat mysterious but has the potential for incredible power. Even the King of Curses, Sukuna, took an interest in Megumi for his Cursed Technique, and that is saying a lot.

5 Different: Megumi Is Willing To Lead The Zenin Clan Another Way

Megumi Fushiguro in Jujutsu Kaisen

While The Zenin Clan is problematic in many ways and is responsible for traumatizing generations of Jujutsu Sorcerers, Megumi has not completely written off the clan. Instead, he hoped to see it get on the right path. He even becomes the head of the Zenin Clan.

Unfortunately, Toji did not share this view, and he distanced himself from both the Zenin clan and the Jujutsu Sorcery community, only overlapping to kill Jujutsu Sorcerers. Toji even changed his last name (hence the Fushiguro) to nominally remove himself from the clan.

4 Alike: They Both Want To Forge Their Path

Megumi and Maki

Megumi holds a strong conviction about what it means to be a Jujutsu Sorcerer, and Toji hates Jujutsu Sorcerers enough to kill them. However, both paved new paths not only for themselves but for the clan's greater trajectory, whether directly or indirectly.

The Zenin Clan's heartlessness and eagerness to meddle to gain power made them unlikeable in the first place. So, it was never a shock that either of the Fushiguro's wanted to make a new place for themselves within the Jujutsu Kaisen universe.

3 Different: Megumi Has Even More Latent Power

Toji was powerful, especially for someone who had no Cursed Energy. He even succeeded in killing many Jujutsu Sorcerers, himself. However, Megumi's potential far outweighs any power Toji had. Ryomen Sukuna hinted at how powerful Megumi could be when Sukuna took a strange interest in the sorcerer.

Furthermore, Megumi was even able to summon the Mahoraga, and that was a feat that even drove Sukuna into a corner for a moment. As powerful and ruthless as he was, Toji would never have been able to say that.

2 Alike: They Both Will Use Unorthodox Means To Reach Their Goals

Megumi Fushigiro _ JJK

Both Toji and Megumi are willing to cross many boundaries to get what they want. Toji was willing to become evil. If becoming an assassin and systematically killing Jujutsu Sorcerers is not unorthodox, there is little left to be unorthodox.

However, Megumi was not afraid to unleash devastating power on the world. He was able to summon the power of the Mahoraga, which caused widespread destruction. The Mahoraga was a legendary entity that few had ever heard of, much less been able to take on.

1 Different: Megumi Wants To Do What's Right

Megumi brings out the Max Elephant Shikigami

When things went wrong for Toji in his youth, he decided to become an evil, blood-thirsty assassin who likely killed a lot of innocent, or at least well-meaning Jujutsu Sorcerers. At the very least, it was a maladaptive coping mechanism.

Unlike his father, Megumi wanted to protect others and was inspired by his past hardships to not only protect his friends but also become a Jujutsu Sorcerer, despite what the community had done to his family. In the end, Megumi was well-meaning and wanted to see good done in the world.
