At Toy Fair 2020, Medicom unveiled a rather gruesome figure of the Joker from the classic DC story, The Dark Knight Returns, featuring the Clown Prince of Crime as he was depicted in one of the graphic novel's most iconic scenes.

Standing at 6 inches tall, the figure features Joker in the white suit he wears throughout most of The Dark Knight Returns. The figure also comes with alternate hands, alternate heads -- one of which possesses the batarang in the eye -- a detachable knife and a figure stand. Currently, the figure is available for pre-order at Big Bad Toy Store for $94.99.

Set in an alternate 1986, The Dark Knight Returns explores another version of Gotham City in which a 55-year-old Bruce Wayne re-assumes his identity as Batman. The plot features alternate versions of many famous Batman characters, including James Gordon, Selina Kyle and of course, Joker. The Dark Knight Returns was written by Frank Miller with Klaus Janson and Miller providing art.

A two-part animated adaptation of The Dark Knight Returns was released in September 2012 and January 2013. The film, directed by Jay Oliva, introduced a wider audience to one of Batman's most violent moments. Violent, but not lethal. While the Joker does meet his end in both the comic and the film, it is not because of the batarang.
