Although he is not human, he has made his fair share of mistakes. Despite his attempts to be a hero, he hasn't always been a successful one. Despite being so strong, he has lost a few battles. He is still growing as a character as well, learning from his failures and becoming a much better man than he was when he was first introduced.

9 Thor Was Arrogant And Selfish

In his very first film, Thor was introduced as an arrogant and selfish person. He was not fit to be king, yet considered inheriting the throne to be his natural birthright. He was childish and could not stand the thought of someone getting the best of him.

He was so blinded by his own beliefs that he refused to listen to reason, even if it came from family and friends. Unfortunately, Odin did little to correct Thor's behavior until Thor made an irreversible mistake.

Thor put the lives of himself and his friends in danger. He was all too eager to start a fight with the Frost Giants, so he attacked them on their planet with a bloodthirsty kind of joy. He nearly walked away from the confrontation, but after being insulted once, he slaughtered many of their people.

If not for Odin's appearance, Thor and his friends may not have survived. The Frost Giants were justified in declaring war against Asgard.

7 Thor Beheaded Thanos After He Wasn't A Threat

The Avengers look at Thanos in shock in Avengers: Endgame

After Thanos won and snapped away half of all life in the universe, Thor and every other Avenger were upset and eager for revenge. They tracked down Thanos, and were horrified to discover that he destroyed the stones to keep anyone else from using them.

Without any hesitation, Thor executed him, much to the horror of the other Avengers. Despite Thanos' crimes, killing an unarmed man was unethical. Thor's main priority was to make himself feel better.

6 Thor Only Helped With The Time Heist For Beer

Despite the Avengers' attempts to appeal to Thor, they could not convince him to leave his home to help them. They had a way to obtain the Infinity Stones through time travel, but Thor was so crushed by his failure to stop Thanos that he could not bring himself to care.

Rocket had to tell Thor that there was beer on the ship, and only then did he agree to go.

5 Thor Didn't Go For The Head

Thor attacks Thanos but doesn't go for the head

Thor had every reason to hate Thanos. Thanos killed many of what few Asgardian survivors remained, as well as Thor's brother Loki. This meant that Thor had no surviving family left. Filled with rage, Thor had every intention of making Thanos suffer.

He plunged his axe into Thanos' chest in the hopes of drawing out his death, but this allowed Thanos to not only survive, but to win.

4 Thor Nearly Ruined The Time Heist

Although Thor agreed to help with the time heist, he nearly failed the mission. Rocket wasn't able to talk any sense into him, and Thor was too terrified to approach his former lover, Jane.

He got caught up in his conversation with his mother, and although she offered wise counsel and provided him with the comfort he needed, Rocket was forced to extract the Aether from Jane on his own.

3 Thor Wasn't The Leader His People Needed

After learning humility in his first film, Thor's desire to become ruler of Asgard was completely snuffed out. Although he did save his people from the terrifying rule of Hela, he failed to act as a ruler after that. Valkyrie was forced to fill in the position in a foreign world.

Even after the time heist, he asked her to become the formal leader, as he still did not desire the responsibility, nor did he feel that he was fit to rule.

2 He Gave The Aether To Malekith

Malekith holds a weapon and invades Asgard

In order to safely extract the Aether from Jane Foster, Thor and Loki decided that the best course of action was to hand the Infinity Stone over to the Dark Elves. Although Jane was safe, Malekith absorbed the Aether, which made him grow much stronger.

Thor's plan went about as well as Odin expected, as Malekith caused a great deal of destruction during his time on Earth.

1 Thor Looks Down On The Other Avengers

Thor looks down at the battlefield

When the Avengers first got together, Thor referred to them as petty and small. He even considered himself to be the strongest Avenger for years, although Bruce Banner was a serious contender.

Even in the present, Thor maintains a rather competitive nature. He prides himself on being the coolest and the strongest, offering Captain America his smaller weapon and even taking charge of the Guardians Of The Galaxy.
